I run Mad Science Games, a small team of game industry professionals. The goal of Mad Science games is to make some really interesting and excellent games that arn't being done anywhere else.

The Mad Science Games website is a blog receives regular updates about game progress. It also occasionally features my thoughts and musings on game development.

We have two games in development using our own in-house engine.

I like to run things in a very open way with lots of communication with fans. We have the recently redone the forums where I encourage people to post their thoughts and opinions.


Tyrant of Terror - Early Alpha

Early Alpha Footage

Tyrant of Terror is a genre bending symphony of awesome! It can be described as a card based strategy game. There are elements of Tower defense and RTS games with CCG like deck building.

You play as the Tyrant and each night you are tasked with keeping the angry peasants at bay. You will defend various parts of the keep before you are allowed to attack the enemy.

To defend your magnificent keep the player will be dealt cards. Cards can dropped onto the field and come to life. The cards behave in all different ways and you need to use smart strategy to win.

I've been working on it since 2010. I am doing everything except programming for this game. I am even working on a soundtrack recorded with live instruments.

Tyrant of Terror is currently being developed with the Mad Science game engine. I expect it to release sometime in 2015.

One of the things I'm most proud of in this game is the stats system. You can read more about that here The Numbers Behind the Monsters.

Cybattle is a mixture of Battlefield and old isometric school 2d shoot 'em ups. The game will be available free-to-play in the near future.

This is an evolving personal project that I've been working on just for fun. I want to make the perfect JRPG. It's a tribute to games like Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger and Suikoden. This game will have an action based battle system, a massive world to explore, and tons of interesting characters.

This is a working map in the game with multiple paralax layers and working collision detection. The main character is making an idle pose.

The game is currently being developed in HTML5.

Sir Boingers is an old school platformer written in the Sphere game engine.

Gameplay Footage

This game was protyped by myself and a friend of mine. We got this project done in a few days and we wanted to acomplish two things with it. It needed to feel classic, and it needed to be very difficult. I'm happy to say it does just that. Most of the difficulty comes from the bouncy and floatyness of the player's character.

Cubugs

Cubugs is a HTML 5 puzzle game where players have to match the colored blocks, bigger matches net more points. The game has online leader boards and built and a wealth of unlockables. Players can also earn a special resources that they are able to gift to other players. Cubugs will run on any web browser or smart phone. During this game's development I managed around a dozen people.

Gameplay Footage

The Game was intergrated with Twitter and Facebook so players could share their scores or send challenges over these networks. We also had an email campaign where one of the game's characters would send you daily challenges. If you completed them you were rewarded with extra resources.

UI

As players discovered new Cubugs in the game, they were announced on twitter.

Monster Mash

Mash of the Mosnters is a game about creating and battling Monsters.

Players create their Monster by throwing in any items they have in their inventory across the Tylted Universe. This means a Monster can be created from an apple, some toothpaste, an avatar T-shirt, a bus, and some dog food. Their appearence and stats are based off of the objects the monster was created with. Monsters are then named with a random name generator. Then the Monsters are sent off to battle each other!

During this project I managed around 20 people.

Bonus - Monster Parts

While I did figure out the art style as well as lay out all the screens. The only art that I did directly were a few of the Monster Parts! Here's some to enjoy.

Elf Chucking was our Cellufun's first HTML5 game. Launch the elf into the sky to grab gifts and earn points. During the development of this game I managed around 5 people and completed a large chunk of the art.

Arcade type shooter made for earliest versions Android OS. Takes advantage of the touch screen. Move your finger across the screen to mow down the onslaught of invaders on the beach.

Be careful not to get hit. The soldiers you have left act as your life bar... and it's a good while inbetween reinforcements.

Wave after wave they come. How long can you hold the line? Compete online for highscores.
